Computer Addiction Help
The most common problem with people around is that no one is ready to accept that they ARE addicts. Addicts are always assumed to be something that does not exist in my society. Addicts are only a handful of people about whom there are articles printed in the newspapers and documentaries telecast on the TV.
The very first step to getting help is diagnosing the problem.
Symptoms of computer addiction:
Loses track of time while using the computer
Sleeps less to use the computer or surf the internet
Get irritated when someone troubles you while you're using the computer
Spending several hours in front of the computer screen daily
Ignoring important work or friends or family
Lying about his/her computer usage when asked
Loses interest in all his/her enjoyable activities
If you find some or most of them in anyone around you or yourself, then you are a computer addict. There is nothing to panic or argue.
Take the following steps:
Accept the fact. If it's your loved one, talk to him.
Slowly try and reduce the number of computer hours. Never expect a miracle to happen and him to leave everything in a day. Computer addiction is like any other addiction and has to be dealt with patiently.
Grow social circle back again
Keep yourself pre occupied with friends and family
If the above steps don't seem to help you for more than a month, then you need to consult a psychiatrist or any support groups that help you online while maintaining your anonymity.
